Men's Soccer Adds Depth to Midfield for 2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-Head coach Shane Bufano and the NVU-Johnson men's soccer program recently received another in state commitment for the upcoming 2020 season.

Hasan Aljaf has signed the necessary paperwork and has committed to the NVU-Johnson men's soccer program for the upcoming season. A native of Essex Junction, Vermont and a student-athlete at Colchester High School, Aljaf is a highly skilled midfielder with quick footwork and incredible speed. Aljaf is the third commitment from Queen City FC following recent commitments from Zac St. Amour and Thomy Mwali. This fall for the Colchester Lakers, Hasan scored 8 goals and dished out 4 assists from the midfield in the highly competitive Division 1 Metro League.  Hasan has been a four-year letter winner for the Lakers as he was brought up to the Varsity team during his freshmen season.  During his Senior Season he was selected to the All-Metro Team in 2019.

"I chose NVU-Johnson because of the community feel. The campus is beautiful, and I am excited to continue my career on the soccer pitch for the Badgers," said Aljaf.

Aljaf has a wealth of high-level playing experience having participated four years on the Far Post SC 2002 Premier Team.  This past season he transferred to Queen City FC, where he has been training with U-19 Boys team.  In addition to soccer, he has also lettered at Colchester in Varsity Track and Field where he competed as a sprinter.

Head Coach Shane Bufano is excited about the addition of Aljaf and knows that his impact will be significant for the young Badger squad this fall. "Hasan will make an immediate impact in the midfield as he has a lethal combination of acceleration speed as well as quick footwork with the ball," said Bufano.  "He fits our offensive style of play perfectly and will help greatly to fill the gaps within our offense.  He is also the third addition from Queen City FC in this class, which will help add to the chemistry of the group."

The NVU-Johnson men's soccer program continues to recruit for the 2020 season and plan to announce additional commitments in the near future.
