Southern Maine Defeats Johnson State 9-0

The University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's tennis team earned a 9-0 win Sunday afternoon at the Costello Sports Complex defeating the Johnson State College Badgers. 

With the win Southern Maine extends its winning streak to two matches, improving its overall record to 3-3.  Johnson State dropped its third consecutive match to fall to 1-3. 

In the opener, the Huskies' breezed through the doubles points en route to their 9-0 win over Johnson State.  Sophomore Tyler Adams and junior Scott Gagne  led USM from the top of the order with the first of three 8-0 wins in doubles action, defeating Badger senior Cole Hennessy and junior Cory Chase.

In singles action, USM swept all six points winning first through fifth singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0.  Junior Romain Sauvageot  earned his first collegiate victory with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Matthew Miller at sixth singles.

Southern Maine travels to UMass Boston on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) for its first Little East Conference match of the season while Johnson State travels to conference foe Castleton next Saturday.
