Norwich Tops Johnson, 9-0

STOWE, VT. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Norwich University 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Top Notch.

The Badgers go to 1-4 on the season while the Cadets move to 3-2.

Doubles

The Norwich opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of doubles pairings. Ian Hyte and Dylan Ackerman teamed defeated Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) 8-4, while Jay Carter and Tyler Eagan took down Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the No. 2 position, 8-3. Sam Beiter and Hadley Ellis picked up an 8-1 decision over Quinn Lambert (Joppatowne, Md.) and Ethan Hutchinson (Canterbury, N.H.) in third doubles.

Singles

Norwich took all six matches of singles play. Lane fell to Hyte in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Harcourt dropped number two singles 6-0, 6-1 against Ackerman. In third flight singles action, Perez was bested by Carter 6-0, 6-0.

Cory Arruda (Dartmouth, Mass.) fell in his No. 4 singles match 6-3, 6-3. Hutchinson and Holl finished off singles with losses in No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Johnson will travel to Thomas College for their first NAC East match on Saturday, April 1st for an 11:00 a.m. match.
