Badgers Drop First NAC Match to Thomas

WATERVILLE, MAINE – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Thomas College 9-0 on Saturday morning in their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match of the season.

The Badgers go to 1-5 on the season and 0-1 in the NAC while the Terriers move to 4-4 (1-0 NAC).

Doubles

The Terriers opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of doubles pairings. Ryan Chasse and Zachary Disch teamed up to beat Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) 8-1, while Kaleb Payson and Jared Waterhouse took down Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the No. 2 position, 8-0. Ross Munn and Mark Amato picked up an 8-0 decision over Brady Rainville (Danville, Vt.) and Quinn Lambert.

Singles

Thomas took all six matches of singles play. Lane fell to Chasse in No. 1 singles6-0, 6-0. Harcourt dropped number two singles 6-0, 6-0 against Munn. In third flight singles action, Perez was bested by Disch 6-0, 6-2.

Rainville fell in his No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Lambert and Holl finished off singles with losses in No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
