STOWE, VT. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Colby-Sawyer 9-0 on Sunday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match at Top Notch.
The Badgers go to 1-7 on the season and 0-3 in the NAC while the Chargers move to 7-9 (2-0 NAC).
Doubles
The Chargers took a 3-0 sweep of doubles pairings. Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) fell in first flight doubles 8-0, while Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell in the No. 2 position, 8-1. Brady Rainville (Danville, Vt.) and Quinn Lambert (Joppatowne, Md.) ended doubles with an 8-0 defeat.
Singles
Colby-Sawyer took all six matches of singles play. Lane fell in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2. Harcourt dropped number two singles 6-0, 6-0. In third flight singles action, Perez was bested 6-0, 6-0.
Rainville fell in his No. 4 singles match 6-1, 6-0. Holl dropped fifth flight singles 6-0, 6-0, while Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.) finished off singles with a 6-0, 6-0 loss in No. 6 singles.
