NORTHFIELD, VT. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Norwich University 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Badgers go to 1-8 while the Cadets move to 5-2.
Doubles
The Cadets took a 3-0 sweep of doubles pairings. Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) dropped first flight doubles 8-3, while Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell in the No. 2 position, 8-0. Brady Rainville (Danville, Vt.) and Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.) ended doubles with an 8-1 defeat.
Singles
Norwich took all six matches of singles play. Lane fell in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-3. Harcourt dropped number two singles 6-1, 6-0. In third flight singles action, Perez was bested 6-1, 6-2.
Rainville fell in his No. 4 singles match 6-0, 6-1. Holl dropped fifth flight singles 6-2, 6-1, while Ethan Hutchinson (Canterbury, N.H.) finished off singles with a 6-1, 6-1 loss in No. 6 singles.
