Eagles Top Badgers in NAC Match

RUTLAND, VT. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Green Mountain College 8-1 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match.

The Badgers go to 1-12 (0-6 NAC) on the season while the Eagles move to 5-5 (2-3 NAC).

Doubles

Truman Cressey and Kei Sako took the top flight doubles match with an 8-2 victory over Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and partner Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.). Second flight doubles was won by the Eagles' duo of Javier Lugris and Dakota Dodson with an 8-3 victory over Brady Rainville (Danville, Vt.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.). The No. 3 doubles pairing of Eric Wade and Daisuke Kon emerged victorious with an 8-1 decision over Quinn Lambert (Joppatowne, Md.) and Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.).

Singles

The Eagles took five of six singles matches to end the day. Cressey opened singles play with 6-4, 7-5 straight sets victory over Lane in top flight singles. Sako used a pair of 7-5 set wins to defeat Harcourt in No.2 singles. Wade posted his first singles victory of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rainville in third flight singles.

Johnson received its lone win in fourth flight singles as Holl won a marathon match over Lugris, 6-4, 0-6, 10-5. Lambert and Daigneault each fell in 6-1, 6-3 sets in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots, respectively.

The Badgers will finish their season on the road when they travel to Lyndon on Wednesday, April 26th for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match.
