RUTLAND, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Castleton University 9-0 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Sunday afternoon.
Doubles
The Badger's doubles team of Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Austin Walters (Grantham, N.H.) fell in first flight 8-3, while Quinn Lambert (Joppatowne, Md.) and Ethan Hutchinson(Canterbury, N.H.) dropped second doubles 8-0. Patrick Bell (Charlestown, R.I.) and Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.) lost third doubles 8-2 to give Castleton a 3-0 lead going into singles.
Singles
The Spartans swept singles to take the 9-0 victory. In first flight, Lane fell 6-4, 6-0. Walters dropped second singles in a pro-set 10-3, while Hutchinson fell in third flight singles 6-1, 6-0.
Lambert went down 6-1, 6-0 in fourth singles, with Daigneault and Kyle Picard (Hyde Park, Vt.) falling in fifth and sixth singles.
