NORTH ADAMS, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's tennis team dropped the first match of the season to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts by a score of 7-2.
The Badgers started strong on the afternoon as Austin Walters (Grantham, N.H.) and John Folsom (Califon, N.J.) won the first doubles match of the day. Walters and Folsom captured the win by a score of 8-5. The Badgers struggled throughout the rest of doubles as MCLA took the next two by a score of 8-1 and 8-2.
Folsom continued to produce for the Badgers throughout the day as he recorded the only win for the Badgers in singles matches. Folsom won by a score of 6-1 and 7-5 against MCLA's Nick Castle.
The Badgers and Trailblazers will meet one more time this season as they face off again in April when conference play begins.
