MCLA Earns 8-1 Win Over Badgers

BENNINGTON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's tennis team capped off the weekend against the MCLA Trailblazers. The Trailblazers capped off the day earning the 8-1 win over NVU-Johnson. 

The trailblazers were consistent starting off hot in the non-conference match. Overall MCLA swept the Badgers in singles, Cal Najimy paired with John Archer-Harvey for an 8-1 win in the top doubles slot against David Cosman and Dylan Griffin.  Andrew Nygard and Nick Castle topped Patrick Bell and Kyle Robbins for another point, and when Mohamed Mahrous and Curt Nitzsche won, the Trailblazers were up 3-0.

During singles play, Nygard defeated David Cosman 6-2, 6-3 for his second point of the day.  Archer-Harvey won handily in the third singles slot while Castle earned his second point in the fourth matchup. It was Griffin that sparked the Badgers and earned the singles win over Najimy a score of 7-5, 4-6, 10-5. 

With the loss, NVU-Johnson drops to 0-2 on the season and will host rival NVU-Lyndon on Thursday, March 12.
