Men's Tennis Drop Home Opener to Hornets

STOWE, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's tennis team competed in a non-conference match against rival NVU-Lyndon on Thursday evening at Topnotch Tennis. The Hornets capitalized winning by a score of 9-0.

The Badgers fell in doubles action and took an early 0-3 deficit. Dylan Griffin and David Cosman competed against the Hornets No.1 doubles Patrick Wickstrom and Neal Mulligan. The Hornets took the win by a score of 8-2. Throughout No.2 doubles it was Kyle Leighton and Zach Falkenburg against the Badgers Patrick Bell and Kyle Robbins. Bell and Robbins were edged by a score of 8-5. In the final doubles match of the evening it was Luke BuglionGluck and Tyler Ivone against Garrick Webster and Ken Niemann. BuglionGluck and Ivone fell by a score of 8-3.

The Hornets swept singles action. In No.3 singles Bell fell in the first set but earned the win by a score of 6-2 to force a deciding set. Bell eventually dropped the singles match to Leighton losing the deciding set by a score of 10-8. Robbins stood out in No.4 singles but couldn't rally in the end and eventually fell by scores of 7-5, 6-3. Griffin, Cosman, BuglionGluck and Ivone all dropped their singles matches and eventually fell to the Hornets by a score of 9-0.

With the loss men's tennis drops to 0-3 on the season as the Hornets improve to 1-1 overall.
