Men's Track and Field Add Local Talent for 2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's track and field program and Head Coach Shawn Woods received a local commitment for the 2020 season earlier today.

Owen Dearborn comes to Northern Vermont University-Johnson from just three miles down the road in Lamoille County. Dearborn competed as a student-athlete for Lamoille Union High School track and field team.

"I am excited to be part of a college track and field team. I look forward to seeing where I compare to others in my first year", said Dearborn. Dearborn has only participated in track and field for one season at the interscholastic level. In his first and only year, Dearborn qualified for the Vermont State Championships in all of his events. 100-meter, long jump, triple jump and 4x400 are the main events that Dearborn competed in and turned out to reap the rewards of his hard work. "I placed 1st in the long jump, 2nd in triple and 4th in the 100meter. I am very excited to see what NVU sports will bring".

When arrived at NVU-Johnson, Dearborn is unsure of the path he will choose academically but has a strong interest in Criminal Justice. The deciding factor for Dearborn to attend NVU-Johnson was because it was the best fit financially. Dearborn is the first commitment for the men's track and field team this offseason.

The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's track and field team will announce additional commitments in the near future.
