MVB: Johnson Dropped by Bard, 3-0

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY— The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team fell to Bard by a score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon. 

Bard 25-18, 25-23, 25-20

The Raptors walked away with the first set, 25-18 on nine kills off 27 attack attempts. The Badgers fought back in the second set, opening up the set with a 5-0 lead. The teams continued to trade points, but the Badgers maintained their lead until the Gators battled back to tie the set at 15 points each. Johnson then capitalized on errors by the Gators and back-to-back kills by Ryan Willette (Wolfeboro, NH) to push the Badgers lead to 20-16. Going on a 9-3 run to close the set, the Gators walked away with a 2-0 lead entering the third set. The Gators opened up the third set strong, going on a 10-4 run before the Badgers found their composure and cut the deficit to two points. The Gators regained control and closed the set on a 3-0 run to take a 25-20 victory over the Badgers. 

The Badgers were led by Randy Willette (Wolfeboro, NH) and Austin Walters (Grantham, NH) with five kills each. Walters also led the Badgers in digs with nine. The Badgers recorded 21 kills off 88 attacks. The Gators were led by Tristan Kozul, who had an impressive 19 kills off 34 total attacks and recorded 13 digs in the match. The Gators had 33 kills on 93 total attacks.
