Badgers Take First Set But Eventually Fall To Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team won their first set of the inagural season as they beat Pratt 25-17, but the Badgers eventually fell in the match losing 3-1.

The Badgers started off strong earning the victory in the first set of the day by a score of 25-17. The Badgers went on a 6-3 run to begin the first set. Pratt clawled their way back as the score sat at 9-7 until two consecutive attack errors by the Cannoneers rulted in a four point lead for the Badgers. Both teams continued to battle and with the score at 23-17 Wyatt Moberg (Acton, MA) had control of the serve. Moberg capitalized and ended the first set with consecutive service aces to lead the Badgers to the victory in set one by a score of 25-17.

Pratt capitalized in the second set and started strong. They opened up the set with an 11-3 lead and continued to roll to take the set by a score of 25-13. The Cannoneers took set three (25,21) but the Badgers controlled most of the set until a Badger service error and kill by Albi Marke gave the Cannoneers the victory. Inthe last set of the match the Badgers fell by a score of 25,22.

The Badgers were led by Austin Walters (Grantham, NH) who had four kills on 11 total attacks. Walters provided a team high 11 digs. Ryan Willette(Wolfeboro, NH) contributed with three kils, 10 digs and two aces. Moberg was impactful has he provided one kill, three service aces and six digs.
