Dominic Phelps Adds Depth to Men's Volleyball

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team have gained another commitment for the 2020 season. Dominic Phelps has signed the necessary paperwork and is the second commitment for the men's volleyball team this offseason.

Phelps a product of Lyndonville, Vermont, will pursue a degree in Business with a concentration in Sports Management. Phelps is new to the game of volleyball only playing two years at the high school level for Lyndon Institute. "I've only been playing Volleyball for two years and made it to the Vermont State Finals in the 2018-2019 season", Said Phelps.  Phelps was named as a First Team All-State selection in the 2018-2019 season.  Motivated to learn and grow within the sport, Phelps played his club volleyball for Vibe. The team played most of their tournaments throughout New England and that experience has helped Phelps progress. "I played for a club volleyball team named Vibe and we played relatively well against some of the best teams in New England. We also finished as runners up in one of the tournaments. Even though I've only been playing for 2 years I take my lack of experience compared to my peers as motivation to be constantly improving.

Northern Vermont University-Johnson as an institution had everything that Phelps wanted in a school. "I chose to commit to NVU-Johnson Because they had everything I was looking for; a concentration in Sports Management, varsity volleyball, and tuition and housing that came at a better price than anywhere else".

Head Coach Keven John is coming off the inaugural season for NVU-Johnson's men's volleyball program and Dominic is excited to transition into a program that is rapidly growing. "I am excited to continue with my development in volleyball and to receive a new perspective in coaching at a higher level. I've wanted to play sports in college ever since I was little and volleyball being my newest passion, I'm very grateful and very excited to be part of the Badger volleyball team".
