Chargers Top Badgers 3-0

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team competed against Colby Sawyer College in the final match on Saturday afternoon in Carter Gymnasium. The Badgers fell short dropping the match in straight sets.

The Chargers took the match in three sets winning by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-17.

Michael Weston led the way for the Badgers with a team high seven kills and two digs. Ryan Willette added five kills and four digs. Jason Madrid added 16 assists and two kills on eleven total attacks.

The Chargers were led by Orlando Plagata who had a match high nine kills. Giovani Dos Reis added eight kills and eight digs and Aj Gnieksi had a team high 17 assists. 

The Chargers opened up the first set on a 6-2 run. The Badgers battled back and came within two points but two consecutive service aces from Plagata fueled the Chargers to a 25-14 victory in set one. 

Set two continued to show the Chargers in control as they opened up the set on a 14-6 run and didn't look back going on an 11-8 run to close the set winning 25-14. 

In the final set, Colby Sawyer took the commanding 14-5 lead, but the Badgers battled back within five off consecutive kills from Jesse Streeter and consecutive Charger errors, but it wasn't enough as the Badgers fell by a score of 25-17 in the final set of the afternoon.
