Badgers Battle Lions in 3-1 Loss

BOSTON, MA.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team traveled to Emerson College on Saturday afternoon to compete in a non-conference match. The Badgers dropped the match by a score of 3-1 to Emerson.

The Lions took the match in four sets by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 20-25 and 25-19.

The Badgers were led by Ryan Willette who recorded 10 kills and seven digs. Jesse Streeter added seven kills and three digs and Michael Weston recorded five kills and six digs. Jason Madrid provided the Badgers with a team high 19 assists. 

In the first set the Lions jumped out to an early 10-5 run and the Badgers worked to close the gap getting the score within two, but the Lions capitalized defensively and closed the set on a 15-6 run.

It wasn't until the Badgers trailed 2-0 in the match when the captured their first set of the match. Midway through the match Streeter ignited the Badgers with back to back kills to take control and the Badgers never looked back remaining in the lead and winning by a score of 25-20.

The Lions closed the match in the fourth and final set as Samuel Willinger paced the Lions with 15 kills and eight digs while Parker Gray recorded 10 kills and four digs.

Reception errors and service errors were the difference on the match as the Badgers recorded 13 errors receiving while the lions only had five.

With the loss the Badgers move to 4-5 on the season and will travel to Elms on Saturday, February 22 for a 3:00pm match.
