Johnson Men's Cross Country 8th of 13 at Mayflower Kick-Off

HENNIKER, N.H. - Johnson men's cross country opened their season with an eight place finish in the 13 team Mayflower Kick-Off hosted by New England College.  The race was an early look at the venue for the 2012 North Atlantic Conference Championships on October 27.

Babson College was the meet's top finisher with a score of 34 while Lyndon State College came in second with 37.  Finishing in third was Colby-Sawyer College scoring 110.

The Beavers also had the top individual finisher in the race with Mark Guselin (Miami, Fla.) crossing the finish line with a time of 16:00.  Lyndon's Josh Grant (Nashua, N.H.) (16:10) and Tyler Scheibenpflug (Wolcott, Conn.) (16:26) were second and third respectively.

Johnson's top runner was freshman Brendan Walsh (Killingworth, Conn./Killingworth) who came in 11th place (17:32) while classmates Steven Lamonde (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) came in 24th (18:34) and Zach Shuttle (Georgia, Vt./BFA-St. Albans) was 41st (19:46).  Senior Kayden Keith (Morrisville, Vt./Peoples) (pictured) scored fourth for Johnson coming in 65th (21:42) and senior Alex Lagase (Milford, Conn./Foran) was the final scorer in 71st (21:59).

Johnson will run again on Saturday, September 8 at the Castleton Invitational at Castleton State College.
