XC: Badgers Compete in Mountaineer Invitational

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's and women's cross country team competed in the Mountaineer Invitational hosted by Southern Vermont College on Saturday morning. The women place third as a team with the men recording a sixth place finish.

WOMENS RECAP

Brynn Cairns (Rutland, Vt.) and Lily Denmeade (Hartland, Vt.)  led the way for the Badgers finishing second and fourth, respectively. Sarah Sodaro (Monkton, Vt.) finished 20th overall, while Kate Abdel-Fatah (Braintree, Vt.) and Jessica Malskis (Jay, N.Y.) finished 27th and 28th.

MEN'S RECAP

Daniel Ott (Wyoming, N.Y.) was Johnson's top finisher on the men's side, coming in 22nd. Kyle Duffy (Waterbury Center, Vt.) and Sheldon Billings (Ossipee, N.H.) came in right behind Ott with 26th and 28th place finishes. Richard Radcliff (Danbury, Conn.) and Cole Shebak (Brookline, N.H.) recorded 30th and 35th place finished to round out the scoring for Johnson. Erik Crosby (Springfield, Vt.) also ran, finishing 43rd.

NEXT UP 

Johnson will host the Badger Invitational on Saturday, September 16th, with the women taking off at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men at 11:30 a.m. The race will be a part of Alumni Reunion & Family Weekend, which you can learn more about HERE.
