The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has released the 2017 Men's and Women's Cross Country Pre-Championship Polls and Johnson State College has been ranked to finish tenth on both the men's and women's sides in a vote conducted by the league's coaches.
MEN'S COACHES POLL
Colby-Sawyer was selected to repeat as the champion after receiving six first-place votes for a total of 116 points in the pre-championship poll, while UMaine-Farmington, last year's runner-up, garnered four first-place votes for 108 points to claim second and Castleton took third with 98 points and the remaining first-place vote.
Maine Maritime was tabbed fourth with 91 points, while Thomas was fifth (70 points), Husson took sixth (66 points) and Lyndon was voted seventh (47 points). Rounding out the 2017 pre-championship poll were Green Mountain in eighth (37 points), UMaine-Presque Isle in ninth (36 points), Johnson in 10th (31 points) and New England College in 11th (26 points).
WOMEN'S COACHES POLL
Colby-Sawyer was selected to repeat as the champion after receiving six first-place votes for a total of 115 points in the pre-championship poll, while UMaine-Farmington claimed a close second with 113 points after receiving the remaining five first-place votes and Castleton, the 2016 runner-up, was tabbed third with 101 points.
Husson placed fourth with 74 points, while Maine Maritime was voted fifth (63 points), New England College took sixth (62 points) and Green Mountain and Lyndon tied for seventh (58 points). Rounding out the 2017 Pre-Championship Poll were Thomas in ninth (33 points), Johnson in 10th (31 points) and UMaine-Presque Isle in 11th (18 points).
