Badgers Split Twinbill Against Beavers

University of Maine at Farmington softball (4-17, 1-5) posted 24 base hits in a doubleheader split with Johnson State College (6-14, 4-4) on Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field.

The Beavers surrendered a 4-3 loss in the first game and then exploded with 18 hits in the second game for a 14-3 win.

In the first game, the Badgers manufactured runs is the third and fourth inning to build a 2-0 lead, but not before the Beavers plated three runs in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Margaret Fogarty crushed a bases-clearing double into the right center gap.

The score stood until Johnson State took the lead in the top of the seventh with an RBI double and then an RBI single for the final margin of victory.

In the second game, the Beavers scored in every inning and every hitter in the lineup recorded a hit.

Alison Hamilton, Ashley Gleason, and Kylie Cunningham were all 3-for-4 at the plate and combined to score eight runs and drove in six runs.

On the afternoon, Gleason was 5-for-7 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Emily Vitone tossed a complete game and yielded the three runs on six hits.
