CLERMONT, Fla. – The Johnson State College softball team fell to York College (1-1) and Adrian College (1-1) in their first two games of the season at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
GAME 1: YORK 26, JOHNSON 0
The Spartans took advantage of early errors by the Badgers to combine for 15 runs over the first two innings. After Mikaela Magnant (Franklin, Vt.) quieted the York bats for two scoreless innings in the third and fourth, the Spartans closed out the game with an 11-run fifth to take the 26-0 victory.
Pitching
Samantha Kiser (1-0) earned the shutout win, pitching five innings and allowing one hit. Kaitlynn Woodward (0-1) was tagged with the loss, going 1.0+ innings and allowing 12 runs (9 earned) on nine hits. Magnant pitched four innings in relief and allowed the remaining 14 runs.

Adrian spread their offense throughout the game, scoring two runs in each of the first four innings and three to close out the game in the fifth.
Pitching
Rebecca Neal (1-0) spread three hits over five scoreless innings to get the win. Woodward gave up three earned runs in three and two-thirds innings and was tagged with the loss. Emily Marshall (Malone, N.Y.) relieved Woodward in the fourth to close out the inning with a strikeout.
