CLERMONT, Fla. – The Johnson State College softball team fell to Houghton College (1-1) and Eastern University (3-1) on day two of THE Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
GAME 1: JOHNSON 0, HOUGHTON 9
The Highlanders jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, capped by a two-run double by Taylor Dillenbeck. Houghton added five more in the second with Dillenbeck once again ending the inning with another two-run double. Kaitlynn Woodward settled down and shutout the Highlanders over the next two innings but the Badger bats were unable to manufacture runs as they fell 9-0.
Pitching
Tanya Hatton (1-0) picked up the win, throwing four scoreless innings for the Highlanders. Woodward was given the loss after allowing eight earned runs in four innings of work.

Taylor Dillenbeck: 2-3, 4 RBI
GAME 2: JOHNSON 2, EASTERN 11
Eastern picked up runs in the first and second to take a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the second. The Badgers got one back when Annika Dyhrberg (Falmouth, Maine) hit a bloop single to right to bring Nicole Mooney (Hillsborough, N.H.) in to score. Johnson added one more in the forth on a Kasie Craig (Newbury, Vt.) RBI single, but the Eagles pulled away for the 11-2 win.
Pitching
Meghan Johnson earned the win, allowing two runs on four hits in four innings. Emily Marshall (Malone, N.Y.) got the loss after giving up five runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning of work. Woodward relieved her in the first and finished out the game allowing two earned runs on five hits.
