SB: Johnson Drops Two on Day Five of Spring Trip

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Johnson State College softball team fell to Augustana College (7-3) and Southwestern University (6-4) on their fifth day at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.

GAME 1: Augustana 10, Johnson 1

The teams stayed scoreless through the first two innings, before Augustana got on the board with two runs in the third. After another scoreless fourth, the Vikings erupted for eight runs in the fifth to go up 10-0. The Badgers got one back in the bottom of the inning on a Sabrina Roberge (Irasburg, Vt.) RBI groundout, but it was not enough as the Badgers fell 10-1.

Pitching

Alivia Phelps (1-0) earned the win allowing one earned runs on no hits in five innings of work. Kaitlynn Woodward (White River, Vt.) got the loss after giving up 10 runs on 10 hits.

Zayne Blumberg: 2-3, 2 RBI, 3 Run

GAME 2: Southwestern 11, Johnson 0

Southwestern struck early with two runs in the first, then followed up with five in the second. The Pirates picked up one in the third and three in the fourth to take the 11-0 victory.

Pitching

Nadia Netek (2-1) got the one-hit shutout victory, while Mikaela Magnant (0-2) was tagged with the loss.

The Badgers will finish their Florida trip on Saturday, March 2, as they take on Bridgewater State and Penn State Brandywine at 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.
