MINNEOLA, Fla. – The Johnson State College softball team fell to Bridgewater State University (1-0) and Simpson College (1-0) on their final day at THE Spring Games in Florida.
GAME 1: BRIDGEWATER STATE 13, JOHNSON 2
After a scoreless 1st, the Bears erupted for seven runs in the second inning, capped off by a Shannon Grindle 2-run double. BSU added runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 9-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth. The Badgers were able to extend the game with two runs in the fifth with Kasey Craig (Windham, Maine) scoring on an error and Mikaela Magnant (Franklin, Vt.) scoring on an RBI groundout by Mia Blackwell (Eastham, Mass.). The Bears put up four more runs in the top of the sixth, however, and took the 13-2 victory.
Pitching
Kaitlyn Shaw (1-0) earned the win, going five and a third innings and giving up one earned run on four hits. Kaitlynn Woodward (White River, Vt.) got the loss allowing 11 earned runs on 12 hits.

GAME 2: Johnson 0, Simpson 14
Simpson got out to an early lead, picking up three in the first and five in the second. The Storm kept things going, scoring four in the third and two in the fourth. The Badgers threatened in the fourth, getting runners on second and third with no outs, but were unable to convert and fell 14-0.
Pitching
Arianna Kim earned the shutout win, allowing four hits in four innings of work. Magnant got the loss, allowing 10 earned runs.
