SB: Johnson Finishes Season with Doubleheader Sweep of Lyndon

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Johnson State College softball team finished their season with a doubleheader sweep with Lyndon State College, winning 12-0 and 4-2 on Sunday.

GAME 1: JOHNSON 12, LYNDON 0

The Badgers capitalized on six Hornet errors to score 11 unearned runs in the opener.  Kasie Craig (Windham, ME) had a big game at the plate for Johnson, scoring three runs and delivering two doubles and two runs batted in.  Savannah Dufresne (Swanton, VT) added a double and a single and Kaitlynn Woodward (White River, VT) produced a pair of base hits.  The Hornets picked up six base hits, a double from Charlotte Winslow and five singles, but were unable to push a run across.

Woodward went the distance and picked up the shutout win for the Badgers without allowing a walk or striking out a batter.  DeWitt also went the distance for the Hornets, allowing only one earned run on ten hits, striking out two and walking seven in taking the loss.

GAME 2: JOHNSON 4, LYNDON 2

Lyndon game two starter Amber Roberts didn't allow an earned run and only surrendered two base hits, but it wasn't enough as the Badgers again capitalized on Hornet miscues in the field.  Nicole Mooney (Hillsborough, NH) had the only two hits off of Roberts and scored once.

The Hornets picked up seven hits off of Woodward, who threw a second complete game.  Winslow had a double and a run batted in, while DeWitt and Roberts delivered two hits apiece.

Winslow got the complete game win, yielding one earned run while striking out three and walking one.  Roberts took the loss and stuck out two against four walks.
