SB: Woodward and Craig Earn North Atlantic Conference Honors

WATERVILLE, Maine – Johnson State College seniors Kaitlynn Woodward (White River, Vt.) and Kasie Craig (Windham, Maine) were among those honored by the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) on Monday as the conference announced its end of season awards for softball.

Woodward was named the Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and voted to the All-Conference First Team, while Craid was named to the Sportsmanship Team.

Woodward becomes the second consecutive Johnson student-athlete to be named the NAC Softball Senior Scholar Athlete, following Jennie Moore in 2017. She also becomes the first Badger to earn NAC All-Conference First Team in program history.

Woodward is being recognized for excelling academically and athletically throughout her undergraduate experience, while serving as a role model in both the classroom and on the field. She is studying Health Science Exercise Physiology and will be earning her degree after just three years. She was named to the NAC All-Academic Team and the Dean's or President's List each semester at Johnson. On the field, she played in 28 games this season, recording a .370 batting average as she tallied 27 hits with a league-best five triples to go along with eight doubles and two homeruns. Her five triples currently rank her 30th in all of Division III and her 0.21 triples per game have her sitting at No. 10 in the nation. The senior recorded a .699 slugging percentage, scored 21 runs, posted eight RBI, and drew eight walks.

Craig was named to the NAC Softball Sportsmanship Team, which is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the softball culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the playing rules and etiquette.
