Engineers Disqualified, Badgers Earn First Win

Clermont, FL. – The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's softball team earned their first win of the season against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in their second game of the day on Wednesday afternoon.

The Badgers had faced Rose-Hulman earlier in the week on February 25 that resulted in a 14-3 loss.

The Badgers started the game off strong both on the offensive and defensive end. The Badgers were steady and held the Engineers to one hit in the top of the first.  Lindsey LaPerle recorded the first hit of the game with a shot into right field. Unfortunately, the Engineers earned the next three outs of the inning.

In the second inning Kimberly Reville (Burke, NY) hit a drive down the left field baseline and rounded the bases to eventually score for the Badgers earning an inside the park home run. As Reville was rounding second base and on her way to home the Engineers left fielder tripped  and was injured on the play. The Engineers had already made a previous substitution in the first inning and that play was no longer allowed to reenter the game. The Engineers could not field a team defensively and the game ended in the bottom of the second inning as the Badgers recorded their first win of the season. The officials awarded a 7-0 win to NVU-Johnson.

With the win the Badgers improve to 1-5.
