Cavaliers Hold Badgers in Five

Clermont, FL- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's softball team were held to just one in a 10-1 loss against the Cabrini University Cavaliers on Friday afternoon.

Savannah Dufresne (Swanton, Vt.) hit a big shot to deep right center in her opening at bat against the Cavaliers. The shot allowed Dufresne to reach third base and ignite an offensive attack for the Badgers. Mary Richardson (Vernon, Vt.) was next to bat in the top of the first and hit a pop fly in short center field which resulted in an out but allowed Dufresne to reach home for the first run of the game. The Cavaliers eventually closed the top of the inning trailing 1-0 to the Badgers.

The Cavaliers quickly started their attack as they the first three batters reached base with two of those three scoring. The game was neck and neck until the Cavaliers were ignited offensively and recorded four runs in the second inning coming off four hits and two Badger errors. With the Badgers down by a big margin in the third they had to find a way to get runners on base. The Cavaliers retired the first batter with a strike out and made two plays in the infield to retire the side.

The Badgers could only manage to record two more hits for the remainder of the game while the Cavaliers drove in two runs in the bottom of the third inning and two runs in the bottom of the fourth to close the game out by a score of 10-1.
