Norwich Overpowers NVU-Johnson

NORTHFIELD, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson softball team concluded Wednesday's afternoon doubleheader against Norwich University falling by a score of 26-4.

 The Badgers were led by sophomore Laura Dattilio. Datillio recorded one hit and one RBI but as a group NVU-Johnson struggled to put the bat on the ball as they only recorded two hits for the contest. 

The Cadets started strong from the beginning as they recorded eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Badgers had no answer throughout the first three innings as the Cadets recorded 11 runs in the second inning and seven runs in the third inning. Throughout the Cadet run, Naomi Rinaldo recorded a home run while Brittany Vandergroef continued to be strong as she recorded two hits, four runs and three RBI's

The Badgers collected themselves in the top of the fourth inning and recorded four runs, but it wasn't enough as they struggled to score in the top of the fifth closing the game out in five innings. 

With the loss the Badgers fall to 1-11 and the Cadets improve to 6-6.

The Badgers will face Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in a President's Cup match-up on Sunday, April 7. The doubleheader will be held at Norwich University with the first game beginning at 6:00pm.
