Folsom Nominated for North Atlantic Conference Man of the Year

WATERVILLE, ME- Northern Vermont University-Johnson multi-sport athlete John Folsom was named a nominee for the North Atlantic Conference Man of the Year award earlier today.

The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) proudly announces the nominees for the 2019 Man of the Year award. Six male student athletes were nominated for the prestigious award which encompasses all facets of the NCAA Division III student athlete experience. 

Both the NAC Man of the Year and NAC Woman of the Year awards are modeled after the NCAA's Woman of the Year program which honors graduating student athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, service, and leadership.

The NAC Man and Woman of the Year award winners will be announced July 17 and 18, respectively, and will be honored on their campuses during the 2019-20 academic year.

John Folsom a native of Califon, New Jersey recently earned a bachelor's degree in Anthropology & Sociology, with a specialization in Criminal Justice. Folsom was a member of the men's tennis and  men's soccer program for the Badgers throughout his career, earning Player of the Week honors for tennis and Second Team All-Conference honors for men's soccer. Folsom finished ended his soccer career fifth overall in games played with 63 games played during his career. 

He was selected to the NAC Men's Soccer Sportsmanship Team in 2016. Folsom received the Richard E. Andersen Award from Northern Vermont University-Johnson, awarded to the student athlete with the highest level of sportsmanship, and who makes significant contributions to their program as a leader. Impressively, Folsom also served the Califon community as a volunteer firefighter throughout his tenure.
