Badgers Drop Opening Game to Scots at The Spring Games

Clermont, FL.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's softball team opened up the 2020 Spring Games against Alma College on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers fell by a score of 22-1 in five innings in game one of the ten game stint in Florida.

Juliana Reed recorded the only hit for the Badgers throughout the contest. Alma started strong scoring three runs in the top of the first. Lindsey LaPerle was walked in the bottom of the first which allowed Reed to bring in LaPerle and close the gap.

The Badger defense held the Scots scoreless in the second frame, but they struggled to find a way to get on base. A strong performance from Hadyn Terwilliger and Jenna Steinhoff carried the Scots to two runs in the third inning and continued to grow the lead scoring eight and nine unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Bridget Hamel competed on the mound for the duration of the contest and recorded three strike outs. Skylar Crisenbery recorded eight strike outs and pitched a complete game to earn the win for the Scots.
