WILLIMANTIC, Conn. - Johnson State College women's basketball fell to host Eastern Connecticut State University in the opening round of the Eastern Tip-Off Tournament 117-43.  The Badgers are now 1-1, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference while ECSU is now 1-0, 0-0 Little East.

Freshman guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) led Johnson with 16 points and six rebounds.  Freshman center KC Cousineau (Bristol, Vt./Mount Abraham) recorded six points and six rebounds.

Eastern forward Piper Chapman had a stellar outing scoring 33 points on 14-18 shooting in 19 minutes.  Shannon McCourt had a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Lauren Kelleher scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds, Jessica Blodgett added 12 points, and Danyelle Rodriguez 11.

Behind 22 first half points from Chapman and defense that forced 14 first half turnovers, ECSU raced to a 62-21 halftime lead.

Johnson will now play at 1:00 pm on Sunday against Regis College (Mass.) in the consolation game while Eastern will play Montclair State in the tournament championship at 3:00 pm.
