HENNIKER, N.H. - Johnson State College women's basketball opened their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) schedule on Thursday falling at New England College 76-51. JSC is now 1-4 overall, 0-1 NAC while NEC remains undefeated at 6-0, 1-0 NAC.
Johnson first-year guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) led Johnson with 21 points on 7-14 shooting while going 4-8 from the 3-point line. Senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) was also in double-figures with 10 points.
NEC put five players in double-figures led by Jenna Ledy's 14 points. Jessie Ledy added 12 points, Ariel McConkey chipped in with 11 points, and Taylor Burgess and Kayla Lawlor each scored 10.
Following a lay up by Madeline Pritchard (North Clarendon, Vt./Mill River) JSC trailed by only 11 at 36-25 with 1:29 left in the half. NEC would finish the half with a 8-2 spurt that made the cushion 17 at the break.
The Pilgrims would control much of the action in the second half despite the Badgers finishing the game with a 48-44 rebounding advantage.
Johnson moves on play at home on Saturday at 3:00 pm against Colby-Sawyer College while NEC will travel to Lyndon State College also on Saturday for a 3:00 pm tip.
