Johnson Drops CSJ 56-39

RUTLAND, Vt. - Johnson State College women's basketball steadily pulled away throughout the second half to pick up a 56-39 non-conference victory at the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) on Thursday.  Johnson is now 2-6, 0-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC).

First-year guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) led Johnson with 18 points including four 3-point field goals while senior backcourt mate Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) added 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Sophomore forward Jenessa Swainbank (Enosburg Falls, Vt./Enosburg) hauled down a team-best 10 rebounds.

St. Joseph saw Kelly Festa score 18 points and Shaionica Speight tally a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Badgers forced 24 Saint turnovers on the evening while holding the hosts to 27% shooting for the game and without a 3-point field goal.

Johnson will step back into NAC action in their next game on Saturday at 3:00 pm when they play Lyndon State College.
