Hornets Best Badgers 67-39

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State women's basketball was bested by visiting Lyndon State on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball action 67-39.  The Badgers dip to 2-7, 0-3 NAC while Lyndon stands at 2-4, 1-2 NAC.  The Hornets ran out to a 34-15 halftime lead and did not look back to pick up the win between in-state rivals.

Lyndon was led by Naomi White (Danville, Vt./Danville) who scored a team-high 14 points including a 3-for-3 effort from the 3-point line while adding seven boards.  Dannika Dobrowski (Plainfield, Vt./Twinfield) came off the LSC bench to score 12 points while Donna Lawson (Irasburg, Vt./Lake Region) just missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.  Jasmin Amaral (Westport, Penn./Portsmouth Abby) contributed six points, 11 rebounds, and six steals on the day for the Hornets in a reserve role.

Johnson saw senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) net a game-high 21 points while going 3-for-5 from the 3-point line and was the only Badger in double-figures.  Freshman center KC Cousineau (Bristol, Vt./Mount Abraham) scored six point and snatched five rebounds for JSC.

Lyndon State used a 50-34 rebounding advantage on the day and a defense that allowed just 24% shooting for Johnson on the day to help key the win.

Johnson wraps up their fall semester schedule with the game and will not play again until Friday, January 6 when they travel to the University of Maine-Farmington.  Lyndon will travel to North Carolina for a tilt at North Carolina Wesleyan on December 30 at 2:00 pm for their next contest.
