POULTNEY, Vt. - Johnson State College earned an important North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball victory on Saturday by downing host Green Mountain College 62-53.  Senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) (pictured) stuffed the stat sheet scoring a career-high 28 points, recording seven assists and seven steals, and grabbing five rebounds.  Johnson improves to 4-12 overall, 2-8 NAC and Green Mountain now sits at 2-12, 0-9 NAC.

Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) added 12 points for the Badgers while KC Cousineau (Bristol, Vt./Mount Abraham) chipped in with six points and a team-high 10 boards.

GMC saw Millicent Hopper score 15 points, haul in a game-high 20 rebounds, and collect four steals and Chelsea Paul and Jacque Caster each tally 14 points and seven boards.

The Johnson State defense keyed the win by forcing 27 Green Mountain turnovers and holding the Eagles to just 29% shooting on the day.

JSC was able to grow a lead to 17 points in the first half at 28-11 before taking a 35-20 lead into halftime.  The Eagles made a run cutting the margin to five points at 56-51 but Johnson was able to convert enough stops and free throws to nab the win.

Johnson will play host to New England College on Thursday in their next game with tip scheduled for 5:30 pm while Green Mountain moves on to host Castleton State College on Tuesday.
