Hornets Roll By Johnson 76-43

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Johnson State women's basketball dropped a 76-43 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) decision at Lyndon State on Tuesday night as the host Hornets used a 74-36 reboundind advantage to key the win.  The Badgers slip to 4-15, 2-11 NAC while Lyndon improves to 7-12, 5-8 NAC.

Johnson was led by first-year guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) who scored 17 points and recorded seven rebounds while also tallying a pair of assists and steals.  Senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) joined Robertson in double-figures with 10 points to go with four rebounds and three steals.

LSC saw Donna Lawson score a game-high 24 points and also grab 10 boards while Naomi White scored 20 points and hauled in a game-high 17 boards on the evening.  White needed seven points entering the game to reach 1,000 for her career.  The senior scored the Hornets first eight points in the game's first 5:30 to reach the milestone.  Jasmin Amaral chipped in with 12 points.

Lyndon raced out to an early 16-3 lead with 10:08 to play in the first half behind a defense that allowed just one field goal on eight attempts by the Badgers.

JSC could not claim momentum despite seeing some shots go down over the final 10 minutes of the half as Lyndon would take a 36-17 lead into the half.

The Badgers would not shrink the margin under 17 points in the second half as the rebounding effort by Lyndon kept Johnson at bay.

Johnson State steps out of the conference action in their next game on Thursday at Plymouth State University at 5:30 pm while Lyndon moves on to host Middlebury College on February 7 at 5:30 pm.
