Farmington Tops Johnson 64-44

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College saw visiting University of Maine-Farmington pull away for a 64-44 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball victory on Saturday behind 16 points and 11 rebounds from Paige Saunders (Surry, Maine).  The Beavers improve to 12-10, 9-7 NAC while Johnson dips to 4-18, 2-13 NAC.

Johnson State received 15 points Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) (pictured) to go with six steals and five boards while first-year guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) added 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

UMF's Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) chipped with 14 points including three 3-pointers and also dealt out five assists and picks up five steals to supplement Saunders' double-double.

Johnson led 20-19 with 3:42 remaining in the first half but a Kelsey Graffam (Falmouth, Maine) bucket followed by a pair of Bianca Stoutamyer (Madison, Maine) triple's gave the Beavers a 27-20 lead and momentum heading into halftime.

Farmington would push the lead out to as many as 24 in the second half on their way to the 64-44 win.

Johnson, who honored their loan senior in Deuell prior to the contest playing in her final home contest, will take to the road in their next game on Tuesday at Castleton State College with the tip scheduled for 5:30 pm.  Farmington will face off with Husson University in Farmington in their contest also on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
