Despite Deuell's 30, Badgers Fall 74-61

BANGOR, Maine - Johnson State senior guard Andrea Deuell (Milton, Vt./Milton) (pictured) scored a career-high 30 points but it wasn't enough at host Husson University picked up a 74-61 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball win on Friday night.  Johnson sits at 4-20, 2-15 NAC while Husson improves to 14-10, 14-3 NAC.

Adding to Deuell's 30 was freshman guard Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) who scored 14 points while freshman center KC Cousineau (Bristol, Vt./Mount Abraham) hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Husson put four players in double-figures led by Kelli Murray's 17 points.  The Eagles received 13 points from Stephanie Comstock, Amanda Gifford, and Bree Hanscom.

The Badgers would fall behind by 20 points in the first half but would rattle off the final nine points of the stanza to trail by 11 at 34-23 going into halftime.

Deuell would hit one of her four 3-pointers to open the second half cutting the lead to eight points but that would be as close as the Badgers would get the rest of the way.

Johnson will wrap up their season at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday at 1:00 pm as the Badgers will not advance to the NAC playoffs and will finish in 9th place.  Deuell will need 13 points to acheive 1,000 points for her career.  Husson will finish their regular-season schedule with a 1:00 pm game on Saturday against Lyndon State College.
