Panthers sprint past Johnson in women's hoop

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Johnson State College women's basketball visited in-state, non-conference Middlebury College on Thursday night as the Badgers were defeated 85-37.  Johnson is now 2-6, 0-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and Middlebury improves to 4-4.

JSC freshman guard Mary Richardson (Vernon, Vt./Brattleboro) (pictured) was the lone Badger in double-figures scoring 18 points to go with a pair of rebounds and a pair of assists.  Sophomore Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) added five points.

Middlebury's Tracy Borsinger scored a game-high 19 points on 9-15 shooting while Rachel Crews added 11 points and seven boards and Scarlett Kirk chipped in with 10 points.

After a Robertson jumper with 9:15 made the score 23-15 and had the Badgers hanging close the host Panthers would finish the half on a 22-0 run and take a 45-15 lead into halftime.

Middlebury would earn a convincing 50-16 rebounding edge and keep a comfortable lead throughout the second half on their way to victory.

Johnson will wrap up their fall semester schedule to with a big NAC contest at Lyndon State College on Saturday at 1:00 pm while Middlebury will host another non-conference opponent in their next game on Saturday at 2:00 pm in Skidmore College.
