Comstock leads Husson past  Johnson 78-66

Bangor, ME – On Saturday afternoon, Johnson State women's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road game to the Husson Eagles 78-66.  Johnson State now stands 2-12 over all and 0-8 in the NAC while Husson improves to 4-8 overall, and 4-4 NAC.

JSC saw three players score double-digits and eight badgers put numbers in the books overall. Lazrin Schenck (Shelburne, Vt. / Champlain Valley Union) notched 17 points and grabbed eight boards, Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt. / Burlington) delivered 13 points, and Mary Richardson (Vernon, Vt. / Brattleboro) contributed 12 points for Johnson.   

For the Eagles, Stephanie Comstock (Bangor, ME) scored a game-high 25 points while freshman Victoria McIntyre (Mars Hill, ME) scored 17, Kelli Murray (Shawmut, ME) added 13 Husson points, and Chrissy Larrabee (Brooks, ME) put up 10 points.

Husson grabbed an early lead 21-9 seven minutes into the first half. The Badgers would fight back to come within three points with two minutes left in the half, but headed into the locker room six points behind the Eagles making it 35-41 Husson's advantage.

Johnson State would utilize strong offense and defense during the first three minutes of the second half bringing the score to 45-42. But with four minutes left in the game, Husson would go on a 26-9 scoring run to gain a 20-point lead at 71-51. The Eagles ended the game with a free throw to win 78-66.

Johnson will travel to Castleton State on Thursday for a 5:30 game and Husson will host non-conference Bowdoin College on Tuesday, January 15 at 7:00 PM.
