Panthers Edge Badgers 48-42

The Johnson State College Badgers fell to visiting in-state foe Tuesday night 48-42 despite trailing by just four points 3:10 left in the game. Johnson falls to 0-4 overall and 0-0 in North Atlantic Conference play while the Panthers advance to 2-2 on the young season. 

Domonique Carter-Stanley dominated the Badgers' offense pouring in 13 points and grabbing four from the boards. 

For the Panthers, Katie Pett and Sarah Marcus led the charge putting up 17 and 13 points respectively. 

The Badgers opened the game with a 2-6 run after 13:39 in the first stanza. After a deadlocked first half, the Panthers headed into the locker rooms ahead 18-15.  

In the opening 20 minutes of action, JSC was 5-32 from the floor, including 1-8 from behind the arc. Conversely, Middlebury was 0-7 from deep but 7-34 overall.

In the second half, both sides traded baskets and matched defensive intensity to the delight of a strong home crowd.

With 11:13 left in the game, the teams were deadlocked 24-24. Johnson pulled ahead and four minutes later, led the Panthers 33-28. Middlebury's Pett tied things up again for the last time 33-33 with under five to go in the game, but the Badgers were unable to hold off their opponents. Middlebury pulled ahead and would close the game out on top 48-42.  

Johnson will host Green Mountain College on December 4th for a 5:30p game while Middlebury will face-off against Castleton State College on December 3rd for a 5:30 tip.
