Thomas Holds Off Badgers, 58-51
Thomas College (2-5. 2-1 NAC) defeated Johnson State (2-5, 2-1 NAC), 58-51 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's basketball tilt on Saturday afternoon.
 
Neither side was able to muster any sort of run in the opening half, as both teams shot less than 30% from the floor. Johnson had the largest lead, going up by four points at the 16:22 mark, while the lead changed five times.
 
Senior Elizabeth Goodall tied for the halftime-high seven points, while contributing with four steals defensively. Emilee Reynolds had five points and five boards in the opening half for the Terriers.
 
Brittany Robertson led the Badgers with seven points, while Kasey DeGreenia and Eliannie Sola chipped in with four points in the first half.
 
The second half was a back and forth battle with six lead changes. The Terriers jumped out to the biggest lead of the contest (12) at 4:35 on a jumper by Goodall. The Badgers continued to battle until the very end, but were unable to muster up a comeback bid.
 
Goodall tied for a game-high 16 points, while making seven steals. Ashleigh Gagne chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Reynolds finished with 13 points and nine boards.
For Johnson, Robertson had 16 points, while DeGreenia had nine points and game-high 12 boards in the losing effort.
 
The Terriers finished shooting 35.1% (20-57) from the floor, while their counterparts shot 27.9% (19-68). Johnson outrebounded the hosts by a 48-45 margin.
 
Thomas will return to action after the holiday break, hosting conference rival University of Maine at Farmington on January 7 at 7:30pm. Johnson will return to action on Thursday, December 12th for a 7:30p tilt against NAC foe, Colby-Sawyer.
