Spartans Top Badgers 57-41

The Castleton women's basketball team walked away with a 57-41 road win over Johnson State, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Thursday evening. The Spartans improve to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference while Johnson State falls to 3-9 overall and 3-4 in the NAC.

Junior Brittany Robertson led Johnson in scoring with a game-high 15 points while freshman Kasey DeGreenia poured in 10 in the Badger's effort.

The Spartans' Alyssa Leonard tallied 11 points and grabbed three from off the glass to lead her team to victory. Shelby LeBarge bucketed 10 points and threw in four helpers.  

Johnson jumped out to a 3-9 lead seeing four players score in as many minutes.  Castleton answered with an 11-0 run pulling ahead of the hosts 15-9. Another 11-0 run with 5 minutes left in the half put the Spartans out of reach for the Badgers.  The first stanza ended with Castleton ahead 35-20.

Castleon worked the ball around the Badgers going up by as many as 18 points.  The Badgers went 13-44 (29.5%) to the Spartans 18-54 (33.3%).

Johnson will travel to Green Mountain for a NAC face-off at 1:00p this Saturday while Castleton hosts in-state foe, Lyndon State for a 1:00p tip.
