Second Half Surge Sees Husson Top Johnson
The Husson women's basketball team defeated Johnson State College  86-76, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Friday night at Carter Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 7-7 overall and 6-2 in the NAC while the Badgers slide to 4-10 overall and 4-5 in conference action.

Eliannie Sola led the way for the Badgers with a team-high 15 points and six helpers while teammate Ashley Goddard threw in 13 points.

Husson used a balanced attack to tame the Badgers, seeing four players reach double digits. Rebecca Young paced the visitors with a game-high 20 points and 14 rebounds. Her teammate Chandler Guerette contributed a solid 19 points in the Eagles winning effort while Victoria McIntyre and Samira Cruz chipped in 16 and 12 points respectively.

Husson opened up the stanza with a 12-6 run only to be halted by a crucial jumper from Johnson's Sarah Voorhis at the 9:30 mark to give the Badgers the lead. Play remained close with three more lead changes in the final minutes of the half. Husson shot just 45% to Johnson's 65% in the first half and trailed 35 -32 at the intermission.

Despite scoring first in the second half, Johnson saw the visitors enjoy a 20-5 surge to place them on top 52-40.  The rally put the Eagles ahead for good, despite the Badgers closing the gap to five points with 4:33 left to play. Johnson's defense couldn't hold Husson, seeing the Eagles push through to an 86-76 win.

The Badgers will try to build some momentum as they return to NAC play Saturday when they host Maine Maritime at 3:00p at Carter Gym.  Husson will travel to Lyndon for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
