Women's Basketball Falls to Husson on the Road

The Husson University women's basketball team concluded a perfect weekend as they defeated Johnson State 75-54 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Newman Gymnasium. The Eagles improve to 12-11 (11-5 NAC) with the win, and Johnson stands at 7-16 (7-9 NAC) with the loss.

First year Chandler Guerrette  got the Eagles off to a hot start, as she scored the team's first seven points to put them up 7-0. An early lead was all it took to keep Husson in front for the entire game, and the Eagles never trailed. Guerrette scored 12 first half points en route to a game-high 14. Amanda Johnson  added 8 first half points, and the Eagles headed into the locker room up 43-23.
For the Badgers, Nicole Menard led the team with 5 first half points and Kasey DeGreenia grabbed five first half rebounds. Johnson shot just 31 percent from the field in the first half to Husson's 42.9 percent. The Eagles also registered 11 steals to the Badgers' zero, and five turnovers to Johnson's 16.
Husson maintained nearly a 20-point lead throughout the second half. The Eagles kept Johnson State to a shooting percentage of 28.1 percent from the field. Rebecca Young finished the game with 10 points for Husson, second only to Guerrette's 14, and Kathryn Brochu  stepped up for 9 rebounds on the day.
Kirsten Rand, Brittany Robertson and Ashley Goddard each finished the day with 8 points for the visitors. DeGreenia tied Husson's Brochu for a game-high 9 rebounds.
Johnson State will next travel to New England College for a Thursday, February 20 game. Husson will host Maine-Farmington at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, February 19 as a "Gold Rush" event.
