Johnson's Stifles Green Mountain 95-39
Four Johnson State College women's basketball players recorded double-digit points as the Badgers ousted Green Mountain College, 95-39, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action against Johnson State College on Wednesday night at the Eagle Dome.

Nicole Menard led the visitors with 16 points which was crafted out of an 8-for-12 night shooting from the field.

Keelin Banks led the Eagles by posting a career-high 14 points courtesy of a 5-for-12 day shooting.

Both teams encountered a rough start to the game as neither team could buy a bucket in the first three minutes of play. It wasn't until Johnson's Kirsten Rand scored on a layup at the 16:48 mark that either team could break the scoreless tie.  That basket, however, spurred on three-straight makes for the visitors for a lead which they would never relinquish the rest of the way.

Green Mountain (0-2, 0-1 NAC) got the lead back to down to just two several times throughout the first half at 13-11, 15-13, and 19-17, but could never string that additional basket together to pull even.Torie Cowell put together six of her eight points during that attempted comeback stretch for the Eagles.

Johnson (1-4, 1-0 NAC) put together an 18-5 run after there was 4:56 remaining in the half to take a comfortable lead into the break. The Badgers' Brittany Robertson was responsible for half of those points during the run as her layup with 0:51 second remaining capped off the half.

The Badgers used a 17-0 run coming out of the intermission to put the game safely away.

Robertson, Ladona Quinn and Anna Bingham joined Menard in double-figure scoring with 15, 12, and 11 points, respectively. Quinn added 10 rebounds to complete her double-double, but was only the team's second leading rebounder as Ashley Goddard led all players with 14 caroms.

Green Mountain received 13 points and six rebounds from Allison Wadsworth, while Amber Heath led the Eagles in rebounds with eight boards, adding to her four points off the bench.

Green Mountain will next travel to Colby-Sawyer for another conference tilt on Saturday at 1 p.m., while Johnson will battle UMaine-Farmington at home on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
