Robertson Leads Johnson to Victory Over Terriers

The Thomas women's basketball was defeated by Johnson State 68-53 on Friday night in a North Atlantic Conference  (NAC) matchup. The Terriers shot just 24.1 percent from the floor in the loss.

Thomas (2-18, 1-12 NAC) was able to hang around in the first half, as they knocked down three three-pointers and 9 of 12 from the foul line. They held the Badgers (6-12, 6-7 NAC) to just 31.6 percent shooting, but gave up nine offensive rebounds and headed into the half down 32-24.

Taylor Reynolds led Thomas with eight first-half points, while Brittany Robertson led Johnson with eight of her own.

The Badgers got hot from the perimeter in the second half, making 7 of 10 three-point shots to extend their lead to as much as 26 in the half. The Terriers could only get as close as 13 down before time ran out.

Despite a 50-47 rebounding advantage, the Terriers were outshot 70-58 for the game, as Johnson connected on 10 of 21 from beyond the arc. The Badgers also forced 23 Terrier turnovers and turned them into 24 points. The bench also poured in 39 for Johnson to just four for Thomas.

Reynolds and Tess McClenahan finished with a team-high 11 points for Thomas, while Ashleigh Gagne chipped in 10. Robertson had a game-high 17 for Johnson, knocking down five three-pointers.

The Terriers return to the court on Saturday afternoon when they host Lyndon State at 3 PM while Johnson will face Me.-Farmington for a 3:00 PM tip-off.
