Beavers Outlast Badgers
The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team (5-5, 4-1) held on for a 61-54 North Atlantic Conference win over Johnson State College (5-7, 2-3) on Friday evening at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Meghan Smith powered the Beavers' offense with a double-double as the senior tallied a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Smith shot 6-of-10 from the field and 7-of-12 from the charity stripe. Kelly Pomerleau had a solid outing with 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists. The sophomore shot 3-of-6 from the field and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Cheyenne Malloy added nine points for the Beavers.

Domonique Carter-Stanley guided the Badgers with a team-high 18 points and five rebounds. Ashley Goddard added 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists for Johnson State.

At the end of the third quarter, the score was tied at 45-apiece and after Johnson State scored the first bucket of the fourth quarter, UMF generated a 12-4 run to build momentum and made the clutch free throws in the last minute to put the game away. The Beavers assisted 12 of the team's 18 field goals and outscored the Badgers, 22-18, in the paint.

UMaine-Farmington returns to action tomorrow afternoon against Lyndon State College while Johnson State will conclude its weekend road trip with a 1:00pm game against Thomas College.
